Ancestry.com bought Archives.com recently for $100 Million. Although money is the main focus in every deal, I do not think Ancestry.com felt threatened by Archives.com's success at all. This purchase was one that gives boost to Ancestry.com in the same was that a supercharger gives boost to an already large engine. The followers that Archives.com had was not close to Ancestry.com, but they did have software that was desirable to Ancestry.com. So, expect Ancestry.com to become the monopoly of ancestor research.
