Hubert Hillesheim, 91, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1993, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today and 7:30-9:45 a.m. Tuesday at O'Hare-Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish Prayer service at 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived be his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome of Sleepy Eye, Francis of Sleepy Eye, Gilbert and Janet of New Ulm, Lyle and Betty of Emily, Gildard and Lois of St. Peter, Joseph and Alice of Sleepy Eye and Steve and Sandy of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Juliette and Eldor Sprenger of Winthrop, Rose and Glenn Zollner of New Ulm, Ruth Prokosch of New Ulm, Katherine and Gene Feige of Hector, Annette and Art Helget of Hanska and Mary and Dennis Stadick of New Ulm; 48 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Nick and Fronie of Sleepy Eye; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Prokosch of Comfrey, Margaret Busch of Jordan, Verna and Jerome Rein of Shakopee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine in 1989; son Hubert Jr.; daughter Regina Hillesheim; brothers, Henry, Herman, Sam, Art and Leonard; and sister Katherine Rubey. He was born Jan. 15, 1902, in Sleepy Eye, to Joseph and Margaret (Mertz) Hillesheim. He married Katherine Schunk on Sept. 29, 1926, in Wabasso. They farmed in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, after their marriage. He retired from farming in 1970 and continued to live on the farm. He was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth and St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council.
